Move it Boom champions

Open to primary, infant and junior schools across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland, the initiative – which takes place annually – encourages young children to engage in regular exercise, emphasising both its physical and mental benefits.

The competition runs from October to December, during which time pupils are tasked with participating in some form of physical activity – whether it be a walk, a run, a football match, or dance practice. They are then required to log their activities on the Move it Boom website, where they validate their entries and earn points. All points are then combined to give each school an overall total.

The objective is clear: the more you exercise, the more points you accumulate, and the greater your chances of winning.

After nearly three months of energetic participation, we were crowned overall winners, amassing over 6,000 points.

As a reward, we have received six weeks’ worth of dance lessons (valued at £480), hosted by The Core Dance Company.

This achievement highlights our unwavering commitment to promoting a strong extracurricular calendar, allowing our pupils to try their hand at a wide range of sports. In doing so, we ensure our young people grow into happy and healthy learners with a lifelong love of sport.
